Limerick has lots of great pubs each attracting a different type of clientele. WJ South’s Pub in Quinlan Street, dates back to the 40’s, and is one of Limerick’s great character pubs. Frank McCourt, of Angela’s Ashes fame, has been known to have a drink or two there. Nancy Blakes on Denmark Street is very popular with the younger age group. Dolans Bar, established in 1878, in the developing docklands area is very popular with locals and visitors. Next to the pub is Dolan’s Warehouse, at weekends this is a nightclub, but the ‘Warehouse’ also showcases lots of national and international acts. The Locke Bar on Georges Quay, on the banks of the River Shannon is popular with all ages. Limerick is ‘the home of rugby’ and former Lion and Irish International, Peter Clohessey’s pub ‘The Sin Bin’ at Howleys Quay is worth a visit.
